First steps in setting up your Magento ecommerce on-line store

We need some basic information, and we need to you do some simple things, before we can get you trading on-line. Here's a summary.

To start trading on-line through your Accentika Internet supported Magento store, there are certain things that we need to do, and certain things you need to do to get things moving. For examples, get your products together, set up a payment processor, sort out on-line policies etc.

Contact details

Firstly we need the full contact details for our business.We need these for our own accounts, for your domain name registration and for your site contact details:

Name to be used (your own name?):
Company Name (if registering in the name of a company):
Address:
Telephone number:
Email address:
VAT number (if applicable):

We will use these details to register your domains (unless you specify differently).

Setting up on-line payment processor

If you wish to use PayPal for processing your web site payments, you will need to set up a PayPal account. Although we can do most things for you, you need to do this yourself to accept PayPal's terms and conditions. You can start the process here:

and click on the "Get Started" button on the Website Payments Standard option.

There are no setup fees associated with this account. You pay a percentage of each transaction to cover the cost. Click on "See a full breakdown of seller fees."

After sign up, please supply us with your username and password details so we can configure for payment and test. (The equivalent signup page for SagePay for example is here: https://support.sagepay.com/apply/). You can change your password and access details when we have completed our testing.

Getting your products ready for your store

We can create your products directly in the store from your supplied information. Here is a list of the minimum information we need:

Product stock code, Product name, Product description, Product short description, Weight, price, picture filename

You can create a spreadsheet and build your product list item by item, filling in the details under each heading. Then just send us over the spreadsheet along with the image files and we will import them into your store. Or we can take most standard data formats of complete stock catalogues for import. 

It's also possible to add in other fields such as categories, alternative images, colours, sizes etc etc and. We can advise on this.

Product photography

The pictures you use to illustrate your products can have a big influence on the desirability of your goods. Photographers specialising in product shots for on-line stores are set up to process batches of products rapidly, keeping the costs down, and they can handle the cut-outs and white backgrounds that are so popular on-line. If you plan to take your own shots use a neutral uncluttered background with good light. Try outside in natural light on the grass for example. If you need the names of suitable professional photographers, we can advise.

Standard information that must be included on your on-line store

In addition to your tems & conditions that you will need however you trade with your business, you will need to have the following policie available on your on-line store: Returns policy, Payment policy, Shipping policy and Privacy policy. We include some example policies here. These should be edited to reflect the particular characteristics of your business. As is the case with any document that has a legal status you should seek legal advice for the documentation you decide to use on your on-line store.

Returns Policy

Returning items purchased in this site

We are happy to accept the return of an item as long as the item is in its original condition and is unused, or there is a manufacturer defect. Items may be returned within 30 days of  purchase. 

We can not accept returned items without a tracking code. To obtain your tracking code, please email your refund request to:

Attaching a signed covering letter stating the problem and your original receipt.

We do not accept some items for return

Music, games and software [***insert exceptions if any***]  can not be returned if they have been opened opened. Items that have been used, or altered can not not be rreturned or exchanged. 

Costs to you of returning an item

A 10% restocking fee will be deducted from your refund and applies to all returned items. The original shipping and handling fee on the order will not be refunded. 

Exchanging for a different size

You may exchange items in an as-new condition for a different size. There will be no restocking fee but you must still pay return shipping.

Your credit card will be debited at the point you place your order. If we can not fulfil your order your credit card will be refunded.

Shipping costs are calculated based on a number of factors including the weight of your products, the dimensions and your location. The total shipping costs for you oder will be displayed on the final checkout page and you will be able to cancel your order at this point if you do not wish to accept them.  

Part orders 

If an item on a multiple item order is out of stock we will ship the items that are in stock. When the out-of-stock items become available again we will ship the rest of the order.  No additional shipping or handling fees will be payable for the additional shipment. 

Privacy Policy

This policy covers how we use your personal information. We take your privacy serously and will take all measures to protect your personal information. 

What Information Do We Collect?

 

We only collect information that we need that is related to your order. This includes your:

  • Billing Address
  • Shipping Address
  • Email Address 
  • Credit Card Information

In addition we also collect information on your IP address, browser type, and Refer URL data. We use this data to prevent hacking attempts, help us know what web browsers people are using, and find out where our visitors are coming from so that we can improve our marketing. 

How Is My Information Used?

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • Internal record keeping.
  • We may use the information to improve our products and services.
  • We may periodically send promotional emails about new products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided.
